Beginning in October and continuing through the school year, BTG’s young company of artists will perform at dozens of venues throughout Berkshire County and the region. These well-crafted productions are appropriate for elementary, middle, and high school students. Designed to introduce students to the excitement of live theatre, a question-and-answer session follows each performance. For the 2023-2024 school year BTG will be touring Magic Tree House: Merlin Mission Winter of the Ice Wizard.
Winter of the Ice Wizard is a play with music, based on Mary Pope Osborne’s Magic Tree House book of the same title. In this fantastical adventure, Merlin the Magician and Morgan le Fay have disappeared. To find them, Jack and Annie must journey with their friends Teddy and Kathleen to the mythical Land-Behind the Clouds, a frozen kingdom of ice and snow. There they must overcome their fears and solve the Ice Wizard’s riddle, because if Jack and Annie don’t complete their mission in time, Merlin and Morgan will disappear forever.
This year’s play is based on the Magic Tree House Book Merlin Mission #4 Winter of the Ice Wizard written by Mary Pope Osborne with book and lyrics by Will Osborne and Jenny Laird and music and lyrics by Randy Courts. The play is directed and choreographed by Kathy Jo Grover.
